Grind Tricks: Smith Grind

Step 1:
Ride toward your obstacle with a little more speed than you would need for a 50/50 grind.
Step 2:
Ollie up toward the obstacle as you would for a 50/50, but as you come down toward the obstacle, push your front truck down and to the side of the edge of the obstacle so that the nose is below the edge when you start to grind.
Step 3:
Land with most of your weight on the back truck, and lean back slightly. Most of the grinding pressure will be on your truck, but the edge and underside of your board must be sliding on the object as well, otherwise you are NOT doing a Smith grind. Basically, this is halfway between a 50/50 grind and a lipslide.
Step 4:
Keep your weight back as you grind. The more you lean back, the longer you will grind - just don't lean too far back. The key is to get "locked in to" the grind on this trick, and you will feel it when you do it right.
Step 5:
Put all your weight on the back of the board, and begin to stand up when you want to come off. Once the nose of the board is once again level with the rest of the board, simply ride out of the grind as you would for a 50/50.

Grind Tricks: Salad Grind

Step 1:
Think about this trick as a cross between a frontside bluntslide and a frontside 5-0 grind, for a good visual rendition.
Step 2:
Approach the obstacle you want to grind as you would for a normal 5-0 grind, with possibly a little more speed. Have your feet set for a normal ollie.
Step 3:
Ollie up towards the block as you would for a 5-0 (don't level out; instead land with all your weight on the back truck).
Step 4:
Lean slightly inside the block instead of leaning slightly out from the block. You want the nose of your board to be pointing at about 45 degrees in from the edge of the block. Think of it as a 5-0 grind that you start to turn backside 180, but stop.
Step 5:
Lean back to get this trick to grind further.
Step 6:
Keep your shoulders facing forwards (the way you are traveling) while your hips point in the same direction the nose of your board is pointing (so your body is twisted like a frontside bluntslide).
Step 7:
Do a frontside turn to come out of the trick. Give a little pop of the edge of the block as you would to dismount from a 50/50 grind.

Grind Tricks: Nosegrind

Step 1:
Skate at a fast speed toward the curb or block. Set your feet with the back foot on the tail and front foot right behind the front wheels (ollie position). The foot positions are key in creating the balance you will need for the nosegrind. Pop an ollie and land only on your front truck, making sure you have enough speed to carry you through the grind.
Step 2:
Use your back foot and arms to balance you while your weight is shifted to the front, holding the nosegrind. Let the momentum carry you as long as it allows. Remember, the faster you enter the nosegrind, the farther you can grind.
Step 3:
Keep your balance as you slow down, then pop a nollie (nose ollie) off the curb. You can also simply grind off the end, which is best if you are a beginner. Remember to keep your front foot lifted to keep the skateboard level as you land.
Step 4:
Land in a crouched position to absorb the impact. You will land on all four wheels, ready to skate to your next trick.

Grind Tricks: Feeble Grind

Come at your target (easier to learn on rails) at a speed that you can grind at and a speed that you are still comfortable with. Pop an Ollie and get above the rail and land on your tail almost like a salad. When you land you should have all your weight at the back truck so your nose will quickly move down and then you it will lock your board into place. Now even out your weight so your nose doesn't shift down, your weight should be spread out much like a 50-50 grind. Then grind across until you get to the end and just shift your weight back to your back truck to even out your board and ride out.

Grind Tricks: OverCrook Grind

To do this trick, go up to the object you want to grind. Go at it at some of an angle and ollie, pretty high, and then twist your body back around once your board is over the object and slap down into a crooked grind.

Grind Tricks: Crooked Grind

Step 1:
The Position
Approach so that your back is facing the ledge. Have your back foot on the tail and your front foot on the front bolts. Come towards the ledge at an angle so you can ollie and get it into the crooked position.
Step 2:
The Motion
Place your front foot on the nose and your back foot on the tail. The tail of the skateboard should be in the air while the front trucks and nose of your skateboard are grinding. Keep enough weight on the nose to actually grind.
Step 3:
The Landing
Come off the trick by putting enough weight on the nose and pop it off the ledge. Land on the bolts and roll away free.
Step 4:
Having Problems?
You might be too close to the ledge so you don't even get in to crooked grind position... causing you to hit the ledge and bail. Also, you might land in crooked grind position but put too much weight on the nose and get stuck, or not enough weight on the nose and slip out.

Grind Tricks: 5-0 Grind

You need to be able to do a 50-50 before you try this trick.

Ok this trick isn't all that hard. You should know how to 50-50 and Ollie onto your target. Ride up to your target and Ollie up and in the air do the same thing you would to Ollie to manual. Don't over Ollie because your landing will be hard and you will bail. When you land the grinding part isn't that hard. Then when it comes to getting off you just manual of the side or you go to a 50-50 and Ollie off.

The landing on your target is probably the hardest part. To help this stand by your target and Ollie onto it and do a stall. You can only do this with ledge type grinds.
